Travelers Insurance - Immediate response after tree falls on house in a storm
Insurance claim - Compliment
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA -- On June 25, 2012, a fast moving storm ripped through the Richmond VA area uprooting a neighbor's red oak tree that landed on our house doing about $10,000 worth of damage. The very next day, our Travelers insurance adjustor was at the site to assess the damage. Part of the damage was to a custom built patio fence that had an expensive milled top rail. He told us his records didn't show such a railing and allowed only for a standard rail so he went to another site that showed a similar custom piece for colonial house restorations and was able to allow for the differnce in price we would have to pay for replacement. He then asked us if we lost any food in the refrigerator. We told him it was negligable. He said, "You'll have to eat out for a couple of days." He allowed for $350 for that. He then went to his car and came back with a check minus a small deductible enabling us to pay the tree experts 3 days later for the removal of the tree and to engage a contractor who was able to come and repair most of the damage before we left 2 weeks later for vacation.
A claim for damage done to my new Subaru several years ago was handled in a similar professional manner with a warranty. We cannot say enough about the excellent service from Travelers and highly recommend this company for insurance.
