David's Bridal - Poor Quality Clothing

Wearbility and alterations - Complaint

ALL OF THEM -- I have been in the alterations business for over 40 yrs...at one point, needing health insurance I elected to work for David's Bridal when they moved into my area...I was alterations manager...I have never seen such shoddy, ugly and downright unwearable quality clothing in my life...I hired several girls to work in the alterations department..none of which stayed..No matter how hard we worked to try to make the dresses fit..it was a nightmare..Either the sales people ordered the wrong size dresses..or the
fabric was so terrible we could not make it presentable, no matter what we did...We were not given the right equipment for the job..I was told by the Chain's owner to charge at least $165 in alterations to every dress that came through the shop..whether they needed it or not...I have ethics..and had friends who came to shop..I could not do that to them..so, after 6 months of an on-going nightmare, I left..Davids Bridal=Dollar Store Bridal..

This is an interesting review. I bought a bride's maid dress at David's Bridal for $89 in 2009. It needed no alterations and I still have it to this day after making some of my own alterations to repurpose the dress (nothing to do with the fit.) I found that the material mine is made of, is of a decent quality. Perhaps it was just the location you worked at?
