Chase Freedom - Too Much Info on Monthly Statment

WILMINGTON, ARIZONA -- We are new to your bank and enjoying it very much, friendly service from everyone we come in contact with on the few occasions that we have to use a teller...

The last card service we used only put the last four 4 digits of our acct. number on the billing papers, thus limiting I. D. theft...

We would like to see that policy implemented on your billing practices...

I have two Chase cards one Visa and one MC. They didn't start out with Chase but are now. I have paper statements mailed to me and they indeed have my full account number and obviously my name and mailing address. I might be wrong but probably the only way around that would be to have your statements sent electronically to your email address. Does any other member know for certain?

I guess I am used to this. I have had Chase for 4 years and they put the entire account # on. So does GE Money Bank. My guess is a lot of issuers do.

I also wish they would not - I rip the account number off before discarding any portions of the statement, and it is a pain in the neck.

Nohandle - if you mean is there a way around this with Chase, obviously not if you continue to receive paper statements, unless they act on the OP's complaint and change. The irony is that when I surf the Chase website, only the last 4 digits show. That is only helpful if I toss my computer out while turned on and connected to the web via wireless, lol.

It's not a problem for me. Apparently it is for the OP.

NEVER, EVER deal with Chase! Sooner or later they WILL screw you! If you have anything with the name 'Chase' on it...get rid of it as fast as you can, then run...run...run away and never look back!!!

Check out this link from their site. I can not go through it without an accont, but it is a privacy preference page. You might want to check that out and see if they give you the option of NOT printing your entire account number on your statement. I know one of my credit cards offered that as a preference.

My deceased mother had a C.C. with Chase, the balance was $450. They put this into collection and were like a rabid pack of Pit Bulls. They started calling my home phone and cell demanding payment. I explained that this was not my bill and my mother had no assets upon her death. This fell on deaf ears, "Pay up...we want our money." The interest rate jumped to 30% plus a $29 dollar a month late fee. The phone calls continued with a vengeance. When I did not answer they would blast loud music to leave as a message. Finally after 6 months of this harassment they stopped. Under federal law they had to. The $450 balance was now $1600 with interest, late fees and penalties. This had to be reported to the IRS as "income" on her final tax return. DB is right, Never Ever deal with Chase.
