I have a Maytag 2200 front loader 14 months old and already having problems with it. The door is locked and won’t come open. I have tried everything to fix it, contacted Maytag and the first words out of their mouth was did I purchase the extended warranty. I shouldn’t have had too I said this is supposed to be a good washer but I guess I was mistaken. It has shook, vibrated and now this. I am thoroughly disillusioned with this product.
I had a Neptune and wore it out so I went back to Maytag. Wish now I hadn’t.
I bought Maytag because to me they have always been the flagship of appliances. Looking at the different forums on the internet now I see different. Cheap overseas labor is the cause for this.

Cheap overseas labor alone does not explain why most all appliances appear to be made like junk these days. It is likely cost cutting in materials used and/or design compromises.
It would be nice if the customer assistance line was like GE's used to be, where you could call (regardless of warranty) and describe an issue - they would get an answer as to what the cause was. Today, my understanding is that help line is a mere shadow of what it once was, and you probably wouldn't get an answer from them either.

you should go back to using a top loader. i haved used them for over 30 without any issues
