I have tried this soup and it is disgusting. Campbell's should be ashamed of themselves for even selling it. The clam broth is tasteless, the "clams" are so tough they taste like pencil erasers and it is loaded with sodium and hard potatoes. Walmart sells a "Carolina Brand" soup that is cheaper but tastes a little better.

Also sold at Walmart and Costco is the "Legal Seafood" brand. This is very good but more expensive. The clam broth has good flavor and the clams are edible. It is not loaded with a lot of potatoes and the sodium is lower. It is far superior to the can soup.

For the best you have to shop locally at seafood & specialty restaurants where they make it fresh. This is the real deal if you can find it. Check around, it's worth the effort.

I happen to be a big fan of Campbell's Chunky Clam Chowder, and have three cans in the pantry righjt now. the best clam Chowder I have ever eaten is made and sole at Papa Ray's, on Harrison Avenue, in Centralia, WA. It is truly awesome. Pity that it cannot be canned. I won't even discuss Manhattan Style. Yuchhhh.
