Crutchfield - Good Service
Kenwood DDX419 - Compliment
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA -- The stock CD changer (in-dash) in my car had been somewhat erratic for a few years; Most of the time it functioned correctly, but every few months it would refuse to change discs or eject discs. Usually if I cycled the ignition on and off a few times it would start working again. A few weeks ago I went on vacation for a week and whilst I was at the beach, the CD changer refused to work for several days straight. So I decided to go ahead and just replace it. I had heard good things about Crutchfield, but I had never bought anything from them before. Usually I purchase most electronics from Newegg or Amazon.
I did some product research on what head unit to get and decided on the Kenwood DDX419. Crutchfield didn't have the lowest price, but they thrown in the necessary wiring harness, mounting brackets, and fitment sleeves for free. So when you factor that in, their prices are quite reasonable. I had an online chat session with a Crutchfield tech, I told the tech what I wanted to get and that I wanted to make sure the wiring harness was correct because my car has two factory amps which I wanted to keep and I wanted to make sure that I was getting the correct harness. The tech checked on it and told me that everything looked good, and that on the online order if I would enter his name as customer service representative that he would double check everything before it shipped.
I ordered the radio and indeed put the tech's name in the customer service advisor field on the form. The next day I got a call from the same representative saying that he had double checked the order and everything looked good. The order arrived two days after I had gotten home from vacation. I got another call from crutchfield saying the order should've been delivered and that they wanted to make sure I was satisfied with everything. I had a local shop do in the install, the installer mentioned that he was impressed that wiring harness they sent was pretty much just plug and play and that they've installed radios in other cars with the same stock audio system as mine has that required a fair bit of soldering in order to get everything working.
Finally a couple days ago. I get a thank you card in the mail signed by the tech that initially helped me with the order. I'm quite impressed with level of customer serviced I received with Crutchfield. They exceeded all expectations.
