Bosch Dishwasher Poor Long Term Quality

SHX46 Dishwasher - Complaint

Purchased the SHX46 dishwasher as part of a kitchen remodel in 2007. Control board failed at 2 years, labor $100 not covered. At 5 years, recirculating pump failed, repair almost $400 including diagnosis.

This is not the level of quality I expect in a higher end appliance. Bosch service offered only $30 discount for part if I ordered it from them direct. I asked for a 50% prorata credit toward a new machine, they declined.

Bottom line: Bosch may rate tops in all the consumer rags, but the long term quality just isn't there. $500 in repairs within 5 years for a machine that cost $950 just isn't reasonable.

I got a new KitchenAid rather than give Bosch any follow on business.

This is becoming an epidemic in the appliance business. The quality appears to have declined across the board. Sadly, I think Kitchenaid has gone downhill too. We has on back in the 70's, and it was built like a tank.

If I had to spend that much money to repair a dishwasher, I'd just buy a new dishwasher and buy a different brand. That's ridiculous. We have a Bosch dishwasher (SHE55M12UC) that's two years old and haven't had any problems with it.

You might want to take a look at how you're treating your machine.
