Farmers Insurance - Cancelled Policy With No Options
Home Insurance - Complaint
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- I recently switched my homeowners insurance to Farmers. They offered my more coverage (dollar-wise) and a smaller deductible for half the premium I had been paying.
They sent someone from their Grand Rapids (Wyoming) office to inspect my property. All was good. They sent a photographer, who took pictures while serving as a second inspector. All was good.
So I was approved and signed up.
Less than one month later, someone from their corporate office decided that the branches on the trees by my detached garage were too close to the garage -- and the cancelled my policy.
That was it. No exaggeration. They did not give me the opportunity to trim the branches. They just cancelled the policy. Within two weeks, they gave me a refund check.
Just like that: Everything is fine and fine and fine then - POW! YOU'RE OUT! Do not pass GO!
I had the branches cut back - took 15 minutes. Nothing is even close to my garage now. Even destroyed two underground yellow jacket nests by the garage.
All they had to do was ask me to cut the trees back. They did not have to up and up cancel the policy.
I've never in my life made a claim on any homeowners insurance.
Now I get to start the process all over again with another insurance company. Fortunately, there are plenty to choose from. It's just a tedious process I shouldn't have to go through again.
Goodbye, Farmers. If I never hear from again, I will count that as a blessing. Fools.
