Purchase of a new phone on an upgrade - Complaint
BRIGHAM CITY, UTAH -- We went to the Brigham Sprint Store owned by Brightstar. My phone is getting old and I needed a new phone. We have a family plan with 5 phones on the plan. Over the past few years, as a family member needed a new phone, they would just use whose ever phone had an upgrade available. After all, it is all the same family plan, in my name as the main plan holder. I was told that the new store policy is, if I got an upgrade, the phone number with the upgrade had to be activated for 24 hours before I could transfer it over to my phone, but they could absolutely not explain why. So their manager, was called. It was not a pleasant conversation. I admit, I was getting very testy. But their reasons just did not make any sense. If I buy a new phone, I expect to be able to walk out the door with it in my own phone number, and not have to be answering someone elses phone for 24 hours. I spent a half an hour trying to understand, and no one there could explain the reason. It was so frustrating and I said, so you would rather I went to another Sprint store not owned by you, OR transfer my whole plan back to AT&T (which gets better coverage and signal around here) - than to waive the 24 hours? He said yes. So I left. Later, I called the Logan, Utah store not owned by Brightstar. In less than 2 minutes, they explained that it all had to do with the rebates. Yes, I could walk out of the store with my number on the new phone, but in some cases, if the upgrade phone number is not activated on the new phone for 24 hrs - I may not be eligible for the rebate. THAT SIMPLE! I UNDERSTOOD! So, as you might guess ... I will be upgrading my new phone at the Logan Sprint store that is not owned by Brightstar. And if you live in this area, and you want to be treated with respect and dignity ... steer clear of the Brigham City, Utah Sprint Store, as well as any other owned by Brightstar.
