Erie Construction mid-west - Preying on the elderly
siding - Complaint
BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN -- I am a former financial advisor, now semi-retired. My clients still rely on me to help them make financial decisions. When my client (age 92) showed up at my office with a copy of Erie Construction contract, and we looked them up online and found all the complaints I suggested he get a second and possibly 3rd quote for what he wanted done. He did sign the contract in July 2012, and brought it to me to look at in August- 6 days before work was to begin. We called 800# phone number on contract- went to an Ohio office which referred to Grand Rapids office, which said we had to talk to someone in Lansing office. All the time informing each office that contract was to get cancelled. Finally was told I would be contacted within the hour, and the client verBally gave them instruction to be able to talk to me. It is now 3:18 PM and as I figured no one has called. They were going have my client finance this project @ 11.99% with a 2% variance in case rates changed (as we know they are not going down at this point) Had him turn over bank statements even though he stated he wanted to pay for it when project was completed. They had no reason to take copies of bank statements- what are they going to do with them???? What business is it of theirs how much money he has where! Thank goodness 50% was not put down the day the salesman came to the door as he asked for.
Bottom line they have not done any work and I don't like them. Stick with referrals from friends and neighbors, not the door to door salesman when you are dealing with this much money and your homes that most of us have our life savings in.
