Dish Network - Customer Service Is the Worst I've Ever Had to Deal With
Dish HD DVR - Complaint
PALATINE, ILLINOIS -- I had to purchase my equipment due to a lower than acceptable credit score back in November 2007. I ordered my equipment through Radio Shack. I ordered the HD DVR at a cost of $473.00. I also had to pay $150.00 Dish precash for the installer to come out and to start my service. The installer arrived 4 days late and I explained to him I had a new roof and wanted the dish mounted on the facia board which was a 2X8.
I went about my business in my garage working on my car. As the installer needed in my basement I stopped what I was doing to let him in and saw he put the dish on my roof and damaged the granules from stomping in the area he installed it. I voiced my concerns and he stated that's the only place he could put the dish and due to my roof pitch he had to dig in to hold on. He also stated Dish Network would take the complaint and take care of my roof.
After he installed all the equipment he had me sign the contract and then began to say he would be back in 2 to 4 weeks to install the HD DVR due to Dish Network sending him a regular box. At this point I was outraged that I paid for equipment two weeks prior and they didn't have it in stock. Well the 4 weeks went and past. I contacted Dish Network and got the run around and had to speak to people that barely spoke any English.
I have been fighting this issue for 5 years now and recently talked to Dish Network executive resolutions team and was told that due to all my problems if I wanted a free upgrade I would have to charge $1 to a major credit card to receive it. I explained to them I didn't have credit cards and the lady told me well without that we can't help you. I explained to her I paid for the equipment in 2007 and still never received the HD DVR I paid for in 2007 or anything for having my roof repaired. I found all my receipts and told her all the numbers of the equipment and that the installer even wrote that he would return to install the correct equipment. She told me that there was nothing she could do because they don't keep records that far back and my paperwork could be manipulated.
I thank God for my good credit now and contacted Direct TV they are putting in a Hd Dvr in my living room and master bedroom at no charge! They are also installing it free unlike Dish. I don't know how Dish can falsely advertise they are so good in customer service and prices when they are far from.
My sister has had Direct TV for a couple years due to poor Dish Network customer service as well and pays less for Direct TV and gets more channels. I would never recommend Dish Network even to my worst enemy.
