Sears - Maintenance Contract Home Appliances and Home Service Repairs
LONGMONT, COLORADO -- Avoid purchasing appliances and lawn tractors through Sears. The run around you receive once the item is in your home is continuous. Three 3 weeks ago Sears repairman arrived to replace the gas tank on my riding lawn tractor. The part did not arrive on time and the repairman said he did not know why he was sent to the job without the part. He then tried to reschedule the appointment. His laptop failed to work. He is now sitting on my porch trying to get the laptop to work. He tries to call Sears to reschedule and gets no answer. Then his Sears phone quits working. He said this happens all the time. After 1 hour he gets through to Sears to reschedule this appointment for the following Friday. The next day Sears calls and tells me that because I failed to be home for that appointment it would have to be rescheduled. I informed them I was home and they needed to amend their records and keep my appointment for the following Friday.
That Friday the Sears repairman arrives and installs the gas tank. He does not have a siphon on the repair truck. So he sucks the gasoline through the tube into his mouth, then tries to spit out the gas in his mouth. Why is Sears putting their workers health at risk by not providing adequate tools for repair? After the install the tractor that used to start and work, will not run. Now I am told I need a new carburetor so it will run.
So he orders the part and sets up the repair for the following Friday. Another phone from Sears, stating they will not come on Friday and that I have to reschedule. I call Sears and I am transferred 3 times, I speak to 4 different people, all requesting the very same information. Then I am told they have had the part for 3 days and have not shipped it to me yet. So it will be another week before they come to do repairs. WHAT kind of business is this???? I told them I was tired of the run around and they needed to follow through and complete the job this week! So they cancelled my Friday appointment and set one up for the next day on Saturday, with a 5 hour window this time.
Several of the repairmen have stated how convoluted Sears repair system is and that they don't communicate with each other. From a customer perspective I fully understand how a great company has been run into the ground. It is a nightmare to deal with!!! Go elsewhere for your home needs!!
