ROUND ROCK, TEXAS -- The clean web interface (created by Hyundai corporate) I used to make the appointment lulled me into a false sense of professionalism that was woefully absent when I showed up for a minor recall "remedy" repair.

They were clearly way overbooked, people, vehicles and "service advisers" everywhere. I checked in (early, as it happens) and was shown to the (cramped and pretty shoddy) waiting area. No mention of how long it would take (supposedly a 30min job) so I asked. "Not sure" was the girl's reply, "I'll get back to you". Well, she did - 3 to 4 hours to get into the shop, another hour for the repair! So, 5 hours for a 30 minute recall job (with an appointment)?

So what is the point of having an appointment system if it's clearly just ignored? Apparently, the appointment is to "meet with a service adviser" not to start the repair. In other words, pointless. Anyone can walk in off the street and "meet with a service adviser"!

This place is managed with the "turn nobody away" mentality for maximum profit, and judging by the crowd in the waiting area, it might even work. But not for me - I'll take my business elsewhere now and in future. There's more than 1 dealership in town!
