Carpet Installation - Complaint
MOBILE, ALABAMA -- I had a terrible experience with the flooring department at Home Depot. My school s media center was given a grant from Target for a library make-over. With those funds I chose to re-carpet the entire library. Needless to say the job was given to Home Depot. They contracted the job to a company in Florida by the name of US Installation Group (USIG). The men seemed to have done a fantastic job. However, after having the carpet was cleaned every seam where the carpet was laid started to separate. I called the USIG and Home Depot. They both gave me the run around. A much uninformed worker by the name of Gale at HD immediately and without investigating the issue, placed the blame on the carpet cleaner. After several phone calls and dead end assistance from Jason Smith at HD, my principal and I decided to place tile in the media center. There were several inspectors who came by to assess the floor said the installers used water soluble glue on the floor. The carpet was removed with no effort. I walked on the floor immediately after the first section of carpet was removed. One of the men was about to panic as I stepped on the floor. When I continued to walk around on the floor, he said that I should have been completely stuck to the floor if the correct glue was used.
So, if you plan on placing commercial carpet in your place of business in the Mobile, Alabama area, try Lowes! Home Depot and USIG are not dependable and take short cuts.
