Oreck Does Not Stand Behind Their Warranty
Xl Gold Vacuum Cleaner - Complaint
WELLINGTON, FLORIDA -- I took my Oreck vacuum cleaner in for service. It would not turn off, also the top of the unit was peeling off. This is the second time I had trouble with the on/off switch. They refused to repair it claiming that my unit shorted out and that was what caused the switch to go bad.
I am a master certified state qualified electrician and I can tell you with out a shadow of a doubt, that there was not short at all, the switch is broken, the vacuum runs fine, it just won't stop unless you unplug it. The peeling they say was due to the unit being left in a hot location. The unit has always been stored in a air conditioned closet in my home.
So for the cost of a $10 switch, I will never buy another Oreck product again. I have 2 other Oreck vacuums that I will be selling tomorrow. Buyers beware!! They are an over priced scam.
