Kmart referral to Walgreens for prescriptions due to Kmart closing

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA -- I went to Walgreens first for I had been a customer previously and because I had a letter from Kmart referring me there for prescriptions. Walgreens prices were shocking and they did not honor Kmart prices. My prescription was $17 more even though I am unemployed and have no insurance. I feel that I was somehow made to feel less than human due to my life circumstances. I have heard this same thing from numerous customers here in Richmond, VA. Needless to say I will not be returning for any prescriptions and have chosen CVS whose pricing was far less and they did indeed honor the Kmart price.
Walgreens overall pricing has increased steadily and I can no longer afford to shop there. They are pricing themselves out of the market.

I just read your complaint about the Walmart pharmacist so I see that you are shopping around for the best price on your prescription(s)? I don't understand why you think that other Pharmacies are being rude to you just because they can't give you a price for your prescriptions that you want? So what happen know when you go to CVS and they can't give you the price that you want?

The fact that you have no insurance and are unemployed has nothing to do with the prices they charge so I don't know why you said they made you feel less than human. They offered you the same prices they offer everyone else, to me that seems fair. If they gave special prices to everyone with no insurance and no job they would put themselves out of business.

Perhaps you are seeing the reason now that the K-Mart Pharmacy has closed. You have gone to three different Pharmacies and all have significantly higher prices than K-Mart, that is probably why the K-Mart pharmacy closed, they were probably losing money hand over fist.

Oh, and CVS will probably not honor the K-Mart price forever.

Are there any pharmacies in the Richmond area that offer $4 refills on various generic drugs? I know that many discounters and supermarket pharmacies do so, at least where I'm at in Ohio. Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid tend to be higher than everyone else on their prescription prices.
