DIRECTV - Sent me a receiver 5 years old
H21-200 HD receiver - Complaint
EL SEGUNDO, COLORADO -- I called DTV to disconnect my service last week since they keep raising their prices. My contract is up in October. They agreed to drop my monthly price by $28.00 if I stayed with them so I agreed. I then decided to add another HD receiver since they lowered my monthly price. They said I would have to agree to another 2 year extension so I agreed. I get my HD receiver today and see scratches all over it and noticed the manufacture date of 10/22/07. I went ahead and hooked it up and the first thing I noticed was the HDMI cable barely stays plugged in. After I activated it, I notice the picture quality is not HD. I have 2 TV's, both Sharp Aquos. I tuned them both to the same channel and the difference in quality is like night and day. I called DTV and asked for another receiver. The first representative couldn't find my account (how convenient) so I hung up and called back. When I called back I explained my story to another representative who actually hung up on me. I called back a third time and asked for a supervisor. I requested a new receiver. The supervisor said she couldn't guarantee a new receiver would be sent. The paper that came with the receiver today stated a 90 day warranty on a receiver that was made on 10/22/07. DTV is a joke. I regret my decision now to extend my contract another 2 years.
