Dish Network - Mean customer service
Hopper and Service - Complaint
WHEATON, ILLINOIS -- I have 2 hoppers, both are great when they work but.. they both have stopped working correctly within 4 months. This last Wednesday I called with another hopper issue. The service agent spent 2 hours on the phone with me unplugging, reseting, re-pointing, re-testing only to finally come to the same conclusion that I started with... we need a tech to come out to the house. I explained to the service agent that the week before my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and is recovering from surgery and treatments at home, that it is important that we get it working because its her only distraction from the reality of whats happening to her health. They told me Friday - 8 to noon and a tech would call and come by to swap the hopper for a working one- nobody showed. Another day off (treatments and surgery caused many days off and my wife is on disability) and nobody showed? I called Dish today (Friday) and they said they have no record of my call on Wed morning and no appointment was made. I told them I have my phone record and the name of the service person who helped me on Wednesday and wanted to report a complaint. My new DISH service employees (claudia - empolyee #kdo erica - employee #rax) claimed they couldn't do anything about it due to privacy and discloser laws??? I guess DISH is now protected by HIPPA laws - laughable, its like they make it up as they go along without any accountability. I learned from my past experience with DISH and audio taped the conversation. My friends couldn't believe and want me to post it on online. I plan to dump Dish Network. The products are decent when they work, the customer service is a bad combination of angry, mean and un-informed. The Hopper is a great product, if they can work the bugs out it would be the best - to bad another company doesn't provide it. Hopefully I can find a similar product with another Sat/Cable provider.
