General Motors - Do Not Buy Unless UAW Employee

Non Employees Gouged - Complaint

Having read ads for mid level vehicles in the newspapers for months, I decided to go over to a couple dealers and see what the prices for a P/U or similar small SUV would actually be. That asterisk next to the price in the newspaper ads has nothing to do whatsoever with what they will charge YOU if you are not a GM employee or family member.

In fact, the real price of a mid priced vehicle for a nonemployee is about....Get this! $5,000 to $7,000 over that advertised price that sucked you into the dealership. That's right folks. The TARP money that your kids will be paying off for their entire life wasn't enough. They will extort more money out of you by you essentially subsidizing employees' vehicle purchases, if you are sucker enough to pay the non-employee price for one of their vehicles. Chrysler does the same thing by the way.

Don't double your contribution to TARP a corporation that doesn't know how to run itself - or that loathesome union that is corrupt as they come and pays high school grads like they're rocket scientists. Just buy some other brand.

Of course if you are fortunate enough to be an employee of GM (or Chrysler) don't waste time with comments here - send Ron Gettlefinger a thank you card. Its a sweet deal, chump!

In honesty that kind of thing happens all the time. When I worked for a Ford dealership every Sunday a new flyer would come out and there would be seemingly good deals printed in the ads in very large numbers. In the small print however it listed that the price was after all possible discounts and unless you were a veteran who was a recent college grad, who was a member in the American quarter horse association, and who had certain trade in, and who held membership in the daughters of the American Revolution, and who lived in a certain area code, and is AAA member, then you won't get the advertised deal.

It's nothing out of the ordinary IMHO.

So it's false advertising to lure the customer in then a big ripoff. This is shameful. No wonder Toyota and Honda sales are better.

I haven't bought a GM product in years and have never considered buying a Chrysler/Fiat. I probably won't even have to contemplate buying a car for a while since my '99 Honda Accord only has 70,000 miles on it and hasn't needed anything except standard/recommended maintenence on it.

Purchased many GM Astro type vans, S10 pickups, then they discontinued them (not enough sales) So, Ford for me. Rather have a well built E250 then a Chevy van that falls apart on a bump

Ron Gettelfinger hasn't been the President of the UAW since 2010 - please elaborate on the "loathsomeness" and corruption of the UAW

You probably didn't have a TV set in 2009 when the whole disgusting scene was televised for the whole world to see. TARP? Remember TARP?
