Priceline and guaranteed trip insurance
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- I contacted Priceline less than two weeks before my trip because I have a back injury and am unable to travel. We were simply going to change the dates. The Priceline representative informed me that they could change the hotel reservation with a number for the Doctor that was treating me to retrieve my medical information and once they determined that it was medically necessary they would change the reservation. Then they transfer me to the insurance company regarding my airline tickets. The insurance company said that I had to provide them with all medical info (including tests and physical examinations) and it would take approximately 3 weeks to review and determine IF I was eligible for a refund (My trip is in 10 days). Unfortunately, my mother has bad shoulders and I have to handle all luggage and I am under the care of a Neurosurgeon and cannot afford to risk having them tell me that they don't deem my medical issue necessary to reimburse me for the trip. BEWARE! If something happens to you right before you are due to go on your trip you will be screwed! Go to Travelocity...they make guarantees and stand by them (I know, I had to change a reservation once). They don't make you jump through hoops and expect you to provide them with your medical history. I don't mind giving a Doc's note but they have no right to invade my privacy!
