LA Fitness Will Only Broadcast CNN in their faciities

LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA -- I went to the gym this am. There were approximately 10 TV's for viewing. 3 of them were broadcasting CNN, 3 were broadcasting The View and the other 4 had sports channels. I went to the front desk to ask if I went to an area where no one was viewing the TV, could they please change the news broadcast to another news station. They told me it was a policy of LA Fitness to only view CNN as a news selection. My membership has been cancelled. I didn't know we were communists.

I'm not sure that's what being communists is. Maybe they have some sort of agreement with CNN where it's the news channel that they can show. Who knows?

While they tip left too, despite their claims, if you had to pick one respected news outlet to view that was bi-partisan, then CNN would probably be it. The thing is, you canceling over the choice of broadcast was exactly the thing they were trying to avoid by mandating only neutral perspective news be shown in the gym. I do get their reasoning. You can just tell some history of problems must have arose at locations in the past over political views.

Wait. Were you there to watch TV or work out? I don't see what the big deal is. Perhaps you should check out your local YMCA. Mine has individual TV's in front of each treadmill & elliptical. If watching a certain news channel is that important to you while you exercise, you would be off going to a gym that allows you full control of the TV.

You do not know communism, you should be careful how you throw the word around. You were allowed to leave, you have the right to listen to the news you want and you have options. I do hope you find a place you prefer.

I don't think the OP is familiar with what Communism is. But at any rate, if I'm going to the gym, I'm going there to exercise, not to watch TV. I can do that home.

I've spent more time on and more time per workout on a tread mill than all of ya combined and YES I do watch TV while I'm treadmilling - which is at least 60 minutes a shot. It keeps me from getting bored. If it was me I would call LA Fitness Hdqtrs and tell them that "The View" is offensive to me...I once told a friend I was visiting to shut that insolent vulgar leftist/racist program off.
