Budget car rental overbilling

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- Be VERY careful with Budget Car Rental. I purchased a rental agreement and rental insurance through Hotwire (no complaints with Hotwire). The final rates were reasonable and comparable to other rental agencies. However, when we went to pick up the rental car, the worker told us we were not properly insured, despite having rental insurance through three different entities. Although, we told her we did not want insurance - when we returned with the car, she charged us for insurance anyway. Our final bill was twice the price of what we had already paid Hotwire. BE VERY CAREFUL!!!! I will never use Budget again. I have used other rental agencies before and never experienced this issue.

Even though you have no complaints with Hotwire, I am wondering if the fact there is a third party involved complicated the issue. If it was just you and the rental agency, you can argue you are insured a bit more directly. Sorry you were taken for a ride.
