Dish Network-Tailgater - Buyer Beware
The "Tailgater" (AKA: Viewcube) with Dish Network - Complaint
LIVINGSTON, TEXAS -- Living on the road, we thought this would be perfect for us... a satellite dish we don't have to set up/aim. The tailgater is a plug & play device you connect to a Dish Network receiver. We purchased it for $380, and signed a two-year programming contract with Dish to secure a reasonable monthly programming fee.
For 2 months it worked fine, then suddenly stopped searching for signals... it just died. Both companies attempted to solve the problem, but after going through the standard "fixes" with no success... both blamed each other's equipment, and left us hanging. Tired of the hassles... we attempted to return the Tailgater: no can do... once you buy it, and open it... it's yours.
(King Controls will exchange it, but you'll get another used one, not a new one. Our replacement didn't operate either.) When we told Dish Network about all our equipment issues, and asked to cancel... they said "fine... that'll cost you $322 for the remainder of your contract." So, we're out about $700... for programming we didn't get to watch, due to equipment that didn't function. It worked great for a while, and was a good product... just pray you don't have any issues with it.
