ST. CLOUD, FLORIDA -- I went to the quest lab at the request of my physician. Had the blood work done and receive the bill for 439.76. My sister who works in the Health Care industry was angry that they would not do any type of cash pay discount as all other providers do. If they had been paid by Medicare they could have only receive at the most about 150.00. They gad the gall to charge a self pay patient 45.76 for a Urinalsys and they would have only received at the most 4.48 for that test. They then charge me 60.16 and for a Chem test 14 and Medicare would have only paid 15.00 for that. The receptionist was curt in her response when my sister as for a cash discount and stated that these prices was the pricing that is set my corporate. My sister asked for the 800#. She then called and spoked to a supervisor who would not budge and stated the pricing stands. They people wonder why the healh care is in the state that is in. Total rip off!!!

That is a rip off, but unfortunately that is how these places make up for what medicare and other insurances pay. It is only going to get worse.
