We have been dealing with this vet since moving to Chehalis from Lacey. Dr. FAy has been our regular vet and has taken great car of our dogs, BearBear and Munchkin. They showed more care than our former vet, and has been very helpful in the financial end of it. Our latest contact was on Sept 10, 2012, when, due to a freak accident, Munchie got her right front leg broken. We took her in and Dr. Ripka x-rayed her and determined tbat the ulna and radius were broken just above the wrist joint. The break was straight across, so there was nothing to pin to, and it was just above the wrist joint, so there was no room to plate it. The decision was made to amputate the leg just above the elbow joint, so we might be able to get a prosthesis made. She is doing well, and should be with us for a long time to come. Dr. Ripka and Dr. FaY are the greatest!

That is bad news about your dog, but so nice to know you got good care, and have options for the future.
Nice to know the level of care and caring at that office.

Bearbear is no longer with us but Munchie has an adopted "brother" and both get along well. The vet here isn't so much after the almighty dollar as the other vet in Lacey was. Munchie goes in tomorrow to have her pain patch removed and they'll see if she needs a new one. She's doing very well and still does her "flying leap" up onto furniture, we are attempting to break her of this. Stitches will come out in about a week.

Riki is curious about Munchie's leg and sniffs occasionally but she beaned him when she was still in her splint and he hasn't messed with her too much since then....it was an accident, she didn't mean to get him, you'd have had to see it to understand.

Even if we move back to the Olympia area, it would be worth the drive down here to have the dogs seen by Dr. Ripka and Dr. Fay. We won't be going back to the other vet who took care of Bearbear....there are many other vet's up there, but our first choice will be our vet here.

Great to hear that Munchie is recovering and that Riki has become a part of the family! It's also good to hear that you've found a a family physician to take care of both of them!

Sorry to hear about Munchkin. Give the little honey a hug and extra treat for me.
