Arby's Inc. - Wheres the Super Arby Sandwich?

I Don't Come Here for Turkey Sandwich

Like most fast food restaurants these days, the drive through menu is impossible to navigate - and since I have a day job, I haven't had a chance to determine whether they (Arby's) even still has the Super Arby sandwich which was the large RB with lettuce and tomato. I was, however, nearly blinded by all the panels hawking some turkey sandwich...who on God's green earth goes to Arby's for turkey?

I know beef is expensive these days and so are tomatoes, but Arby's has never ever been shy about selling pricey sandwiches. And not everybody is on the downlow. Arby's never was aimed at that type anyway.

So, if you're gonna cater to the penniless, I guess that's fine, you have to pay the light bill. But criminently, you're there for roast beef (at least in my former life you were) and that's why I go to your restaurant. In fact, as an Arby's customer for at least 30 years...its the ONLY reason.

So here's a tip - to get your old faithful customers back (who by the way were never slack about parting with a buck) to your now empty restaurants: Construct a drive through menu with the stuff listed a la carte and have a large clearly stated area on the menu for your (flagship) roast beef sandwiches. And for heavens sakes, if you dropped the Super Arby sandwich (I would presume all for the cost of tomato slices) then just close the place down - you're history.

As a rule of thumb I refuse to order anything from a menu that is 90% bundled stuff, and I can't find what I came there for; and if you can't offer a roast beef sandwich with the time honored lettuce and tomato (instead of a bunch of other garbage on it) I'll just go to Krogers and buy the stuff and make my own.

McDonalds lost my business long ago because of their horribly designed menu (and lousy hamburgers).

I don't like anybody telling me what to order with my sandwich. I'll decide that myself - based on the sandwich and its price - a la carte, thank you. If this is mysterious to Arby's - send someone at corporate to a White Castle drive through sometime. They actually list the menu items SEPARATELY! Wow! Isn't that a great idea?

I have no idea what that is..the Super Arby sandwich. You've given me a good idea, but, I stopped frequenting Arby's a long time ago. Just not my cup of tea.

You probably don't remember the day (no too too long ago) when Arby's was all about roast beef sandwiches. Period. That's why the sign has a ranchers hat in the background. Get it? beef...cattle....rancher?

But I guess the new mantra in fast food is to try to cover all the bases as if somebody say, out for a hamburger will just turn into a Red Lobster for their hamburger, if only because its the next thing they encounter in their drive.

Only in this case, it would be like Red Lobster deciding to drop fish and chips from the menu and add some kinda cheese quesadilla instead - as if somebody out for a quesadilla is gonna go in there and eat that quesadilla in a room that smells like a fishing trawler.

I find this whole practice an insult to my intelligence and to my sense of taste. It's about as low class as it gets. One reason why I rarely do fast food restaurants ever. They've individually. each and every one, abandoned the things that made their name in the first place.

I agree that DT menus--and inside ones, as well--are way too cluttered. It's difficult to find the food you want, even if it *is* in a meal.

You're right that places like Arby's are trying to cater to everyone. I'm not a huge roast beef fan, so I used to avoid Arby's. Now, with the turkey, I might stop in now and again.

Since I'm a parent,it's not just one meal Arby's would gain. At least 2, and at times, 5. So I understand why places try to expand their customer base.

5 meals there would cost $35. Kids will toss half of it. I guess for some the CC limit is,...the limit, eh?

I have been in management there over a decade to start off with. The super roast beef is still available, you need to ask for it. It is not listed because they took it off for the reason that it is not a high selling item. The super also, had always been a regular roast beef with red ranch, lettuce, and tomato... unless they have been making it different where you are. The whole turkey fiasco is simply because of the health wave and Arbys jumped on the bandwagon. I'm still waiting for iced coffee to show up. And yes, we are going to start using whip cream for shakes. I told the ones girl i work with that i remember when we used to sell roast beef. I personally think the turkey sandwiches, with the exception of the club cause its a big seller, are a waste of menu board space. And yes, corporate changes the menu board every couple months which is a huge waste of money, guess that's why they make us work on Easter cause I'm sure that 300 bucks their stories makes in 16 hours of business is worth it.. sorry, I'm ranting. To sum up, you can ask for the super and yes shoving turkey down people's throats through marketing at the place known for roast beef is ridiculous.

Me123...I was disappointed to find out Arby's quit selling the Italian Subs...was this just a local decision or did all of the Arby's quit selling them?

I am not sure who still has them. In my region, they do not, but in others they might. I found it a dumb decision to get rid if it, it was high selling and many still ask for them. Some of the things they do makes no sense.
