ESET - Destroyed my system restore

ESET Firewall & AntiVirus
Review by jonchavez355 on 2012-09-27
I tried their free trial because I read good reviews. It destroyed two system restore points and claimed the Zonealarm Toolbar was a trojan. It is malware I am trying to remove. ESET FORCED A DVD burner ON MY computer.

Don't pay attention to the "normal" reviews like CNET (which has a trojan downloader). There are even companies like Adaware which used to be good now use CNET TRojan Download Installer. Gpoing to try McAfee and see if they can help

The reviews on CNET only rate this software as average, and it's expensive. Others have also complained that it caused system problems. I have tried numerous firewall & anti-virus programs. What has worked best for me is Norton. It still has an undeserved reputation as a "system hog." This has been corrected and it mostly works in the background creating no system slow down. For the past three years it has kept my computer safe with no problems so I'll stick with what works.

Malware Bytes works great with me to find the difficult to remove malware and viruses. There is a trial version and then you can either pay for the full version or use the free version. Both are good and have had better luck with it than McAfee or Norton

I use Comodo and Spybot. Both are free downloads and both work well with each other. What Comodo doesn't block before coming in (which isn't much I can't even install a game off of a disk without it asking if I want it), or in their sweep Spybot picks up in its sweep.
