Frigidaire - Major appliances last only 6yrs

DUBLIN, OHIO -- Bought an entire kitchen (fridge, dish, range, microwave) just under six years ago. Even bought the 5yr extended warranty. Almost to the month after the extended warranty expired, the dishwasher pump started to make a great deal of noise. It has only gotten worse in the last year. This was supposed to be their top of the line "whisper quiet" model. Now, 5 1/2 years later the fridge bit the dust where the compressor failed. Lost a fridge full of food! Looks like they are now making major appliances to be disposable. The amount to repair them is almost equal to the cost of a new appliance.

I have heard that appliances are built to last 7 years these days. They probably didn't tell you this when you bought yours.
It's hard to understand why this would be, other than a great opportunity to rake in profits selling junk, while arguing that people move on average every 7 years or something like that.
Sorry this happened, but tales like these are becoming more and more common.

Disturbing but not surprising.
It is more profitable to the manufacturer to build something that people cannot financially justify repairing. It keeps low-paying manufacturing jobs in foreign countries and extracts money from the US.
Why build something of lasting quality- it just puts you out of a job later...
