Infinitiphoto.com, Infinity Camera, Best Price Cameras Complaint - Shady Business at Best, Borderlines on a Lot Worse

Review by Slimjim on 2005-12-28
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- So my wife wants this nice camera for Christmas. (a Nikon d70s specifically). Infinity Camera, aka Best Price Cameras, has a ridiculous low price on their site, www.Infinitiphoto.com. Now I’ve been through this with liquidators that advertise something on the net selling under most stores’ cost price, and then make it up through bait and switch or hard up-sell tactics. Being prepared ahead of time, I politely told them when I received my order confirmation email, that I was on the road and could not call them to (for some reason), confirm it yet again. I wait to see if they send the thing without me calling to hear about everything else they want me to buy. In the meantime, I researched and found other outlets claim the battery doesn’t come with it, which of course it does under normal circumstances. I also find out these guys sell gray market products to get the price low. So I call to see where the thing is, and they still have not processed it, claiming they were waiting for confirmation (again, to talk to me to get a shot at selling something else). Sure enough, when quizzed, the battery isn’t with theirs, but they could include one with charger for $300.

Expecting this, I already knew I could get the battery and charger for about $100 anywhere, and told him to ship without. Now a camera that was available all of a sudden has a four week wait. Since they knew I wanted it shipped by Christmas, but screwed around with the order anyway, I had to let my wife know this would be belated. She was fine with the delay as the price was still hard to ignore. I know I was dealing with sleazy people to get price. I could handle them and that’s not my complaint. What bothers me is that since it was gray market, we checked with them (always a half hour hold) one more time to assure we could use it. Sure enough, no books come with it and this version’s menu was all in Malaysian. The CSR states, your salesman Bruce should have told you that. Well no shyt, so should your website. So we said we couldn’t use that and to cancel. The curt CSR boy states Bruce already did. WTF, because there was no commission without the add-on battery? Nobody told him to cancel anything, and had we not called, we would be waiting a month for something that they had no intention of being shipped.

So my point is don’t even bother with these crooks. Even if you think you know the game, they reinvent it. You wait forever to talk to someone, they take your order, and may process it if they feel like it (as in you bought enough), and if you do get something from them, it may not even be in a language you understand.

That truly bl@ws Slim, hopefully this post and your actions will go a long way to end this thievery.

Under their policies, it does state that you need to supply either an email addy, or a phone number for order confirmation. Though it seems they are not outright honest, at least a bit of the blame falls on you.

Hmm. When I stated "when I received my order confirmation email," and that I emailed them back several times, didn't that clue you in they had my email pirate? Did you also miss the part where we had several phone conversations? Please read before you offer your brand of "advice".

As I learned in the appliance business, when dealing with otheres, be it customers or manufacturers, it's prudent to be professional. Next time, read all of the policies BEFORE you order and treat the CSR with respect, it will pay off in the end.

Already read and understood those. Do you want to show me where it states they ship grey market and cancel orders at their discretion? Again pirate, if you can't understand this complaint or business in general, please stick to your specialty. Those pizzas aren't going to deliver themselves.

Sorry, just trying to help out the "elderly" who don't seem to understand the internet, or anything else for that matter. I see you've complained before about some truck with air conditioning problems. You seem to complain a lot?

And you "seem" to have lost all your forward motion trolling this thread. Why not stay within your realm of knowledge? As a current pizza transporter, there is a hot thread about unreasonable delivery time you could get right on, and there are also a couple active threads about some passenger ship woes. How does a sailor known to do some "cruisin" miss that?
