We bought an Emachine from Walmart and I hope Walmart takes note of who they are doing business with. The unit we bought was in Sept of 2011 and we have the standard 1 year warranty. For about the past 6 months we have issues with the fan- it doesn't cool the machine and it makes a grinding noise time to time. I emailed Tech service and they verified I was still under warranty. That was about it. I called and explained my problem and they werent quite sure what to tell me except that if it turns out to be the fan- I would have to send the entire unit in for service under warranty. They couldn't even help me diagnose the problem- she asked me to call back. I tried for over an hour with no progress. In August I sent 2 emails, no response. Sept my 1 year warranty was coming up- I emailed twice on what to do- even asked what kind of fan part I needed so I could replace it- fast foward 3 1/2 weeks- warranty is up and no responses. I'm not a computer idiot- nor am I a computer repair person either but to leave people out there hanging. I understand cost has a lot to do whether or not you get good Customer/Tech service- but come on you charge 400.00 for the unit- you have about 60.00 in wholesale parts in it.....and you can't throw us a bone once in a while.......thats just unreasonable.

Actually the profit margins on most computers is pretty thin, usually less than 10% in most cases. Your $400 computer has more than $60 in parts in it. But anyway, that's how computer repairs are handled by emachines apparently. If you want a repair you'll have to send in the unit. Alternatively you could probably just take it to a local shop and have them replace the fan, you'd pay for it, but the cost shouldn't be extravagant.
