Travelocity - Military Families Beware

TEXAS -- Military families,(and others with little control over their schedules) beware! Travelocity "Customer Service" is non-existent. I called asking for information between changing and cancelling a ticket for military post-deployment leave change-of-date before calling the trip insurance folks. Customer "Service" won't answer questions, just kept repeating the charge policies (wasn't disputing them), and when I mentioned "military" and that I needed the info because this might be first of several changes, (hence need for advice), was told they didn't work with military. Period. Again, there was no request for special treatment, just info. 25 minutes later, still no answers, just on hold and then their script about change fees and cancellation policies AGAIN. Decided to call the airline directly for advice, where the change was made no problem, in less than 3 minutes. We have booked with Travelocity numerous times before, but this is the first time we have had to change anything. They might be fine if you just want to hand them money and then fend for yourself. We'll be going elsewhere.

Ummmmm......You asked and they answered. What did they do wrong? They don't have anything to help, then they don't. Or are they suddenly against military families because they didn't give you the answer that you wanted?

When my husband was stationed at Ft Hood, none of stores or hotels gave a military discount, I guess they didn't care about the military. Also did you call the airline itself because you suddenly thought that they could help you even though Travelocity couldn't? Or did the rep tell you as in my experience with them?

Travelocity gave the information the OP wanted, just not the answer they wanted. One has to realize the limitations of Travelocity and every other travel service. If you know you can make the trip, without change, then it may be okay to use them. If there is any chance you may not be able to go, then it is better to buy directly from the airlines or buy refundable tickets.

When you buy a non-refundable ticket, you gamble that you can go, in order to save the additional money that a refundable ticket would cost. Sometimes we lose.
