MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT -- Beware of damage to your neck, back, shoulders and or arm (that comes on gradually)when PULLING UP the recliner's STICK-arm. BECAUSE OF THE REPETIVITE MOTION I ended up in the emergency room twice with serious pain. If you have cervical steno-sis or any problems at all with your neck or back stay away from Lazyboy recliners. Repetitive motion...getting up and down from the chair several times is dangerous it wears on your discs and can cause permanent damage! I notified customer service and they did nothing!!!! I need an electric recliner and was willing to pay for one at cost the company flat out refused to offer any type of help!

This sounds very painful, however, is this an issue with a defective Lazyboy Recliner or is this somehting that would happen if you bought any manual recliner? An electric recliner would be your best option and if you check out the Lift Chairs, those are great and Medicare will help pay towards it (they paid about $200 of my Dad's chair)if you have a doctor's perscription for it. It sounds like something your doctor can write a perscription for. You should check it out...but, shop around the different places that sell them because there can be a big difference in the price, depending on where your purchase it.

Yes. Even picking up a Hostess Twinkie on a Fiesta plate could put things out of wack with the problems you describe.

But quit blaming Lazy Boy and get an electric chair as the other commentor mentioned.

Your complaint has nothing to do with Lazy Boy. You didn't purchase anything from them that claimed in any way to be useable for someone with your spine problem. And they don't to my knowledge claim to sell such a product - other than specifically stated as such.

I don't see why this is a complaint against Lazy Boy. You evidently have a condition that is aggravated by using the chair, but this could happen with other repetetive motions that stress your body in a similar manner.

My mom needed an electric lift chair due to old age and the lack of strength, but we had no complaint about the recliner she had been using up to that point.

As Basher states, with her usual outstanding advice, Medicare will pay a portion of the cost if you have a prescription [sic].
