Bob's Discount Furniture - Informed by a Bob's representative that items are on "backorder"
10 pcs dining room set - Complaint
STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT -- On Sept. 8, 2012, my wife and I put a deposit down on a 10 PCS dining room set at Bob's Discount Furniture in Stamford. We intended to pay off the items on a layaway plan. We were informed by Bob's that delivery of our items could not be guaranteed as they were in such demand and until it was completely paid off, delivery could not be assured. With that knowledge, we paid off the items in two weeks, and made an appt. for delivery for 10/4/2012.
I received a call from a woman by the name of Ashley saying that 2 arm chairs were on backorder, but the remainder of the order would be delivered. When the truck arrived, I was informed by the driver that they had the table, the server, and only TWO chairs. he asked me why I only wanted 2 chairs. I told him that I was told that 8 chairs were on the truck and TWO were on back order. After the driver spoke to Ashley, he handed the phone to me and she told me that she MISSPOKE when she told me that two chairs were on back order. She should have said that two were on the truck and EIGHT were on back order.
I refused delivery. they returned the entire shipment and assured me that the entire shipment would be delivered on 10/27/2012. This is BAD business! NEVER AGAIN with Bob's Discount Furniture! What kind of scam are they trying to pull?
A birthday party, with numerous guests, had been planned for that weekend. We gave away our other dining room set in anticipation of receiving the new set. Guests were made to sit on folding chairs and eat at card tables. Thanks, Bob's Discount Furniture, for making my wife's birthday celebration so successful!!!
