OREGON -- We had been a loyal customer of dish for over 4 years. Kept seeing ads for HD free for life. called dish to have our service upgraded for HD. Told us we would have to pay $100 for upgraded DVR, a service fee to install it and a new 2 year contract. Decided to just cancel the service and spoke with an account specialist. The person offered to give us #5 off for the first 12 months of a new 2 year contract. Big deal when they were offering the same thing with no fees to new customers. Told hem to just cancel the service. They called back later that day and upgraded their offer and I agreed. Later I checked the terms of my contract and they had added services I never requested so called them back and again canceled the service. They again called me and made another offer. Each offer always had fees and upgrades we did not want or agree to. We like DISH but thin it is disgusting how we were lied to and scammed. We finally managed to keep our programming the same as we have but took us 4 days of calls to make sure the agreement was what we agreed to.

Dish has been the subject of quite a few poor reviews like yours for less than honest service. You may want to consider making a formal complaint at: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/index.shtml
