Dish Network - Discontinuation of service

AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Have had Dish Network for 2+ years. Always had problems with signal and seemed especially so when trying to watch recorded programs. Decided to switch to another provider and a "bundled" package. My issue is DN is gong to charge me to return their equipment. I stated a technician came out and installed it, why can't someone come get it. No can do was the only answer and if they don't receive the equipment withn 30 days, they'll charge my account for the value. Beware hidden costs when you decide to make ANY switch

vwgary, when you cancel the account, we send out boxes and labels to you. If you choose to use the labels, it is $17 per label. If you wanted someone to come out and de install the equipment,it is a $95 charge. I am happy to review your account. Please just send me an email to becki.barned@dish.com.

Unfortunately I don't recall any verbage relating to charges for returning equipment. Equipment belongs to DN and they have item/serial#'s on record. If components are outdated let me discard them otherwise dispatch a UPS call tag. I have plenty of boxes and packing media. My complaint still remains, I should NOT have to pay for return shipping for items I know will not get reused.

I agree! It is their equipment, If they need it back so badly, they should pay for the return shipping! They don't reuse it, they sell it to third party wholesalers. When you sign up they say your equipment is "on lease". When you return it, they make up reasons to charge you for it anyways by saying it was lost or damaged etc.
