Capital One Is The Worst

Credit Card

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I cannot believe the lack of leniency and consideration from the Customer Service Dept. of Capital One (credit cards.) I have been paying my bills diligently every month for the past two years and moreover, always double the minimum amount or more. I just can’t get anywhere near paying off the balance because the interest rates are ridiculous, and they simply refuse to transfer my balance, which means I am paying interest rates on two cards respectively, when I am not even using them. When I called Customer Service today to ask for some options, this moron has the gall to tell me, “Well, you can pay more a month, or take a personal loan to pay off our balance faster?” I told him, I am interested in what you can do for me, not what I can do for me.
I just hung up on him because the guy refused to say anything even remotely useful. When I pay off these cards, I am never EVER using these cards. You can go to hell too, Jimmy Fallon – you are not funny.

What does Jimmy Fallon have to do with it?

It sounds like you overextended yourself, and now you want a way around the terms that you agreed to when you opened these accounts.

There is nothing in a credit card agreement that I am aware of that entitles the holder (debtor) to change the terms. IMO, referring to the CSR as a "moron" is off base - a moron lacks good judgement. To the contrary, the advice that he gave you is logical - if you are upset about interest, pay down the balance.

When I got my first credit card in 1988, I resolved to never carry a balance, and I never have. I knew right at the start that the interest rates CC banks charge are insane.

Capital One will not help you. They want struggling debtors to pay their high interest rates every month. This is where they make their money by keeping you in debt. They cannot refuse a balance transfer. Shop for a lower rate and dump these toads.

Trmn8r had the best advise. Don't carry a balance. This is what I do and they don't make a dime off of me.

FYI: Costco is now offering a sweet deal for an American Express Card. Zero interest for the first 6 months. A $75.00 credit applied after your first purchase and 2% cash back on all future purchases. Use the Costco Executive Card for an additional 2% cash back. This really adds up, learn how to play the C.C. game and you will come out ahead.
