FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS -- Purchased the Hoover steam vac model FH502030 extract77 multi-surface pro about a year ago. Of course just after the warranty expired I heard a grinding noise coming from the unit. I stopped cleaning the carpet and removed the front cleaning head that spins. Thought something was clogged. Started cleaning and again a huge grinding noise and then poof a huge puff of smoke and flames started and then the electrical breaker tripped for the outlet. NO machine after a few uses over a years time should break out into flames and smoke. The unit is total garbage. I investigated why it caught fire. Turns out the front bearing of the motor failed and the ball bearings caused the motor to seize and short out the electrical. If I hadn't installed efi and ground fault breakers in my electrical panel and been too slow to react to unplug the machine, it could have easily electrocuted me or caused a fire. I would not purchase a Hoover product again. That machine should have last at least as long as a normal vacuum cleaner. I cleaned my carpets over a years time perhaps six times? And the motor fails? That is just not acceptable... Even without a warranty Hoover should replace the machine at no cost. They won't. They don't care. The more products they can make that last just beyond their warranty and then fail. They more they can sell us another piece of crap. DON'T BUY HOOVER. They suck and their dangerous.

Motor failed after six times of carpet cleaning
