HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I don't know where to start, but never in all the years I have owned cell phones (I'm 57) have I had such aggravation with a cell phone company! It took 4 1/2 hours just to buy the phone. I should have walked out on her! I bought it in the Target store in Cypress, TX. She was terrible and didn't tell me most of the stipulations. They charged me an activaction fee of $36 which she told me should would get taken off. I told her I would call myself. They wouldn't do it so I took it back to her. We got into an argument as she tried to tell me she knew exactly what she said to me 4-6 weeks earlier. She didn't. The worst! In the nail salon the girl caused my phone to fall into water. Never had this before. We dried it out but a month later I couldn't call out. I sat on the phone a very long time to be told there was a tower problem. 2 days later the same. I went into the Sprint store and they told me it was the phone. I could pay $500 for a new phone or buy them out for $350. REALLY? Good way to start out with a new customer! Then I was told to go onto Sprint.com and buy used which I did. $36 Activation Fee. I had to argue I wasn't paying it...that I had just paid one. Guess what? Yes! Defective! I just received another one WITHOUT the return bag promised. Had to sit on the phone ANOTHER HOUR! Argued about whether I would pay yet ANOTHER activation fee. Hung up. Called back and spoke to Marquida in NC who actually knew something. She said they wouldn't charge another fee and told me how to get a discount. Since September NO ONE else told me the things she was able to. Too many hours, too much arguing, too unhappy. Should never have left Verizon.

I suggest you visit sprintusers.com You will learn all the nooks and crannies of using their service. The activation fee problem is new. It has always been there (they claim) but they waived it regularly before. Now all of a sudden, they will not waive it anymore. The $36 is charged every time a new phone is introduced to their system. If you purchase a used phone that has already been activated by someone else you will avoid this fee. Also it appears that you do not have Sprint's TEP insurance. Look into it. If you have a $500 phone, it's worth it!

Anytime you dump a phone into the water, you must immediately open it up and remove the battery, then dry it out with a hair dryer (but don't get it TOO hot!) If this is done in the first minute or two, you *might* save the phone, but it isn't a sure thing. If you didn't have the phone insured, I don't think you can fairly blame Sprint for not replacing it. You have to take responsibility for damaging your own phone. I doubt Verizon would do more.
