Spirit Airlines - Spirit Finds a New Way to Get Into Your Wallet

NON-Customer Service

Got a small surprise when returning to ORD from FLL with my least favorite airline, (SPIRIT). When did they drop luggage weight to 40# before they charge you a piece of your lung.

Now they up the carry on fee to (ready for this) $100. I would have thought they would charge a bathroom fee followed closely with a tissue charge.

Congrats Spirit, I'm done with ya. I'll go to a real airline for all future FL flights. Good luck in the future.......N O T!

You may actually save money on a non-bargain airline and your chances of getting to your destination on time are a bit better.

I read an article about this. There is one fee if you pay online before you get to the airport or at the ticket counter, to carry your bag on and put it in the overhead bin.

If you wait until you get to the gate, and try to cram in your stuff for free, they'll sock you with the $100.

This isn't the exact article I read, but it explains the thought process. http://www.forbes.com/sites/michelinemaynard/2012/10/02/outrageous-or-smart-spirit-airlines-raises-its-carry-on-fee-to-100/
