Hotwire - Be Very Careful Before You Book Hotwire

Car Rental

I checked most major Car Rental Sites looking for the lowest rate on a full sized auto at Chicago O'Hare airport. After finding the lowest rate was going to be at ACE Rental, I checked Hotwire and got a full size Vehicle for $10 less than a midsized vehicle. Hotwire will not tell you which Company you are renting from until after the reservation is paid and completed.

Immediately after my booking I was assigned to Alamo and went on their website to see how much I saved. I was very upset to find that Alamo was offering the identical deal for $11.50 less than I was charged. I called back Alamo and reminded them of their "lowest price guarantee". I walked the agent through the Alamo website and he did confirm the $11.34 difference, however he explained the guarantee was only on the BASE RATE and all he would off was a $5.90 credit. I then asked to cancel my reservation and was told "all sales are final".

I immediately called Chase Credit card services and after explaining the entire situation, was told I could not dispute a charge until it was already posted. The charge was made on a Thurs evening, to be picked up Friday afternoon.

Not wanting to be without a car rental, and not wishing to chance being double billed, I used the reservation and attempted to file a dispute afterwards. To make a long story short, Chase Bank is making good for the $11.34 on there own. HOTWIRE YOU SUCK!
