Accommodating customer's needs on out of town breakdown - Compliment
LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I wish to bring to your attention the kindness and compassion extended to me by AAMCO, 520 Lake Dr, Lexington SC., in coming to my aid when my vehicle's transmission suddenly went out at 9:30 A.M. on I-20 on a recent out of town trip. The understanding and expediting the rerpair minimized the down time, which was highly unusual in my 50 years of experiences in dealing with auto repair shops and dealers.
On Sept 12, 2012, my vehicle's transmission went out 219 miles into a 530 mile trip to VA from GA. I was stranded about half-way near Lexington, SC on I-20. My roadside service agent arranged for a tow truck and provided two repair shops in Lexington. The first shop said it would take them 5 days to work me in, inspect the problem, order parts and do the repairs. I explained my situation; half-way between home and my destination, but was told I would have to take my place in line. Not any consideration for being out of town, no alternate vehicle, or a place to stay.
I called a local AMMCO repair shop, Sgk Co, AMMCO, 520 lake Dr. in Lexington SC and they were extremely understanding. They put my vehicle on the next available lift, pulled the transmission, diagnosted the problem and ordered the parts that would be delivered that night. A mechanic came in early the next morning, and I was on my way by 1:30 p. m., 28 hours after breaking down. The owner and service manager could not have been any nicer. This kind of accommodation for a customer is rare indeed.
