Papa John's Pizza - Bad Papa
I have also purchased my last Papa John's Pizza. This company made huge profits last year. For him to cut employees hours and blame the president is cheap and grasping. I will vote with my pocketbook. Boo

Yay, could not agree more. They showed that the owner lives in a $40m mansion, but more to the point, that by paying for the health insurance that comes with Obamacare, it would raise the price of one pizza by a whopping $0.14.

"This company made huge profits last year."
They made a 4.73% profit last year. That's not exactly huge. It's main publicly traded competitor (Dominos) had a profit margin of 6.44%. Furthermore Papa John's got into the black fairly recently. Just two years ago they were in the red $52 Million.
"For him to cut employees hours and blame the president is cheap and grasping."
Not at all. It makes him a businessman who wants to keep is newly profitable company making money. The government is imposing new costs upon his business, if he doesn't do something these new costs will impact his business. He runs a business not a charity. Once you take into account the debt the company has, (Papa John's has only about $52 million in debt and only $25 million in cash) they are still in the red overall, and while they are currently making money right now, the narrow profit margin isn't much and it wouldn't take much to put them back to losing money again.
Of course you are free to vote with your pocketbook, but please understand the complexity of the situation. I think you're oversimplifying it.

I agree with Fodaddy. I have owned small businesses in the past, and with the onerous costs of government regulation and taxes it was difficult to turn a profit. The additional costs presented to the business owner by this law will result in many employees hours being cut or layoffs. In the Pizza business it is not only Papa Johns, but Pizza Hut is fully intending the same - although they have tried to remain quiet about it.

Bullcrap. The owner of Papa Johns lives in a 40 million dollar estate with a private golf course. There is no way possible Papa Johns did not make a generous profit. There is however, that through creative book keeping and tax loop holes that he did not pay income tax on his hidden profits. I agree with the OP and will never buy another pizza from this scoundrel.

I'm a teen working at Papa Johns, and for you to disagree politically with one mans view and discredit the entire company is somewhat rash and I hope you would reconsider. Papa Johns is an amazing place to work, and they pay more then most in the service industry. Please don't discredit all the hard working employees, because our founder is having to make tough economic decisions that may not be, at first glance, popular in the public eye. Papa John (our founder) is doing what's best for the company by cutting hours. If he didn't he would have to raise the price of the pizzas and that would not be good for the company. By cutting hours he's hired a lot more teens workers as well, including me. Papa John treats his employees like family. We get payed very well and there's plenty of opportunities to climb the corporate ladder. Papa John (our founder) did not start off wealthy
