Nipp's Burgers - A Truly Great Burger
The Nipp Burger - Compliment
LONGVIEW, WASHINGTON -- We had to go to Longview, WA recently for a doctor's appointment, and had to get something to eat before the drive back home. I spotted a place called Nipp's Burgers, and it looked interesting, so we stopped. When we walked in the door, the place was clean and the woman at the cash register was very friendly, greeting us and familiarizing us with their menu. I ordered the Nipp Burger, and Crystal ordered her standard plain burger. The food came very quickly, and was hot and smelled great.
My first bite of the burger transported me back to the days of the mom and pop burger stands of my youth. Well done and juicy, a hard combination to get, the burger had mustard and ketchup in just the right amount, pickles and grilled onion pieces. I have to say that was possibly the very best burger I have ever had. The fries were lightly seasoned, and Crystal, who normally does not care for seasoned fries liked them.
I inquired as to how they processed their fries, and the lady stated they received them as they were and only needed to be fried in oil. I have eaten a lot of fast food fries, and the texture of these was totally different.
A long time ago, there was a little stand north of Indianapolis that made their fries from a mashed potato mix. The dough was made and extruded through a plate that formed the fries, and a rotating knife cut them off and they fell into the hot oil. They were absolutely amazing. The fries at Nipp's I suspect are made the same way, as the texture was not that of your regular french fries. Served with a Pepsi fountain drink, the meal was tasty and satisfying. I was really amazed at the price, because it was very easy on the pocketbook. I intend to become a regular customer at Nipp's when we must go to Longview again.
