I made a hotel reservation through Expedia for the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The rate was $39/night and the hotel charges $20/night for the ludicrous 'resort fee', but I knew this ahead of time so the total was still around $60 night. I took my reservation printout to the front desk and got checked in with no problem and got a nice room. This was in the middle of the week so the rates were down. I checked on staying one more night in the middle of the week and the Tropicana said it would be $109.

I will still check with hotel websites directly to get their rates but if Expedia can get 'give away' rates I will use them. Also, I need to remember NOT TO MAKE ANY CHANGES, though I did have up to 2 days before my arrival date to cancel with no penaly
