Bosch - Defective Product
Refrigerator - Complaint

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- After only 6 weeks of owning the fridge it has rust stains, door handles keep falling off and the ice cube dispenser shoots ice all over. You cannot place the glass on the stand to get ice, need to hold it close so you do not make a mess. I tried calling Lowes where I bought it and they said I had to go to Bosch. I called Bosch and a very rude supervisor said it was Lowes responsibility. She was extremely rude. Lowes got a technician to visit and he is ordering new doors but says that despite so many complaints about the dispenser that is the way it is. This is a very expensive fridge and it seems defective so I just want to return it.

Generally the manufacturer has agreements with the retailer, allowing returns on defective merchandise (RDM) for a certain period of time. Beyond this alloted amount, the product is non-returnable and considered a service issue between you and the manufacturer.
Being a month and a half, you're probably outside of what their reseller's agreement allows and, therefore, required to work with authorized service centers. I think it's fantastic that they are willing to replace the doors for you. In many cases this can be considered cosmetic and not covered under the warranty agreement.
Whereas you've just had a change of heart and want to purchase something different, you might consider listing the unit on craigslist after the doors have been satisfactorily replaced. I'd list it at a price that is both reasonable for selling it second hand and something you're willing to live with too. Once sold, you'll hopefully know a little better as to what you like and get a different unit then.
