BASKINRIDGE, NEW JERSEY -- On Oct 10, 2012 I set up automatic bank draft payments for my Verizon Service, with payments drafted on the 27th of each month. Verizon failed to draft my payment on October 27th. I got repeated calls and messages from Verizon that my October payment was past due. As per usual, it was nearly impossible to speak to a real person on the subject. This being one of several problems I have experienced with Verizon and the fact that I had set up automatic bank draft payments, I finally ignored their messages that my payment was past due. Today, 11/27/2012, after checking my account balance, I discovered that Verizon had charged me a late charge for October. I could get no results on-line. After about an hour or so, I was able to speak to a real person, who stated that from the time I initiated the automatic draft on the 10th of October, to the 27th due date was insufficient time for Verizon to make the draft, therefore; the late charge was made. I explained that the problem is incompetence within Verizon. The problem is not my fault. He (Phillip) did delete the late charge.
