We've discussed this thoroughly enough. The brand is not the issue and definitely doesn't supply the answer. Every appliance brand on the market can brake, and believe me, they unfortunately do. There are certain models of certain products that are more problematic than others, but the Duet line, of which the 9150 is a part of, is really rather good. I've recommended the Duet to many family members. They own them and rate them very high.

The problem is that there is a percentage of any product that can have problems. Unfortunately, there's too many people that want the products less expensively, so things like warranty coverage gets tossed aside based upon the consumer that wants to just assume a product shouldn't have issues. Many products are only provided with a one year, limited warranty -- if you're lucky. In my opinion, one is better to purchase with the consideration of warranty coverage in mind.

If the manufacturer doesn't automatically provide a lengthy enough warranty with the purchase of a product, search out local retailers that offer well backed and well priced warranty programs; then buy from them. By doing so, you're minimizing your risk while guaranteeing you're the one that won't be out money when the product starts having problems before you might expect.

Unfortunately, the 9050, 9150 and 9250 have been discontinued in favor of a larger tub HE design. If you want a product that is most similar to the 9150s, consider replacing it with a Maytag 2000 series. You should be able to purchase one for less than $800.

Before doing so, however, take the time to check with the retailer you purchased the washer through. Some offer these warranties and stand behind them fully. They also keep record of the purchase. You might very easily find you have coverage on the unit you didn't realize.

Best of luck and please let us know what you end up doing.
