Applebees - What about the salt levels in their food?

HILLSBORO, OREGON -- If a person is worried about the sodium levels in the food they eat, then they cannot eat at Applebees. Twenty-four hours after eating at Applebees my ears are still ringing from high sodium. Only ate a small portion of the food, but instantly realized the breaded fish and the fries had high levels of sodium. The breaded fish had 1980 mgs and the fries very similar. The manager gave me a chart showing the low calorie levels, but he must have never studied the column showing the sodium levels. At least the diet soda was good and manager insisted we not pay the bill.

I ate at AB's until I realized the experience was often horrible. Manager's do comp bills, but I decided free meals in no way compensated for aggravation, poor food, wasted time and lousy service.

Yes, they do maintain a nutrition chart, so "diners" can easily see what they will be confronting when it ultimately makes its way to the table. I decided I couldn't eat there for many reasons, though salt wasn't a concern.

It's not just Applebees that has high levels of sodium in their food. I avoid eating at a lot of restaurants for this very reason.

i have eaten at applebees, and i always request no "salt" on my items. often times cooks forget to test what they prepare, causing issues like this to happen.

could you have requested a new meal with no salt added?

It's not just Applebee's. Want a real sodium fix? Try Olive Garden, they're off the chart. Understand that restaurants add sodium to their food for flavor to retain customers. If they served a healthy bland meal they would loose business. If you are serious about a low sodium healthy meal prepare your own and stay away from these restaurants.
