NEW JERSEY -- A Progressive driver was stopped at the curbside at a local school. While passing him to pull to curb side said driver started moving and hit my vehicle. Police were called and all inforamtion on the police report indicates that said driver hit me with NO fault of my own. Progressive driver tells them "Oh I was moving" and they say, what my insured driver says is gospel. Keep in mind it WAS NOT even the ownwer of the car or the insurance. We are only going to pay you 50% because you were at fault. BAD BAD judgment and lack of courtesy from this company.

Did the police report assign 100% blame to the other driver?

Police reports do not assign blame. The officer will take a statement from each driver and witness, note the direction of travel, describe the damage, document any injuries, indicate if there was a functioning traffic signal, stop sign etc. Was towing required? Did anybody go to the hospital? What were the extent of the injuries?

A comprehensive police accident report includes these details. Now the lawyers and insurance companies will fight it out to determine who is to blame and at fault. This can take years to settle. Understand how the game is played.
