ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- I went there to purchase lottery tickets, etc. The cashier/manager??? would not sell the lottery tickets to me because I did not have my debit card and would not accept a credit card. As many years as I have been visiting that particular store, I have never had a problem. Every manager I ever encountered has always sold me lottery tickets. Every manager!!!! I had never seen her in that store before, but her name is Jessica. She did apologize and said the employees were not supposed to accept credit cards! But still I was [snip]! That doesn't fix the problem!

Vendors pay a fee to use credit cards. If you charge $100 on a credit card they do not receive $100 in compensation. Depending on their agreement with the credit card company it can be as much as 5%. Lottery tickets are sold as a traffic builder not a money maker because the vendor makes a very small percentage of profit on lottery sales. Some vendors would actually lose money selling lottery tickets if the customer was using a credit card and all vendors would make less. There are a lot of establishments who do not sell lottery tickets to credit card users.
